Great Reviews of Maude's Cafe - Gainesville, Florida
Thanks for the great reviews on Yelp:
"There is a reason Maude's Cafe is known affectionately as "...The Known Center of the Universe." Here is a place that has outlasted competitors, survived the deliberate placement of Starbucks right next door to this local gem, and Maude's even set up a great eclectic little bar called Maude's Sidecar, which will undoubtedly survive the new bar going into the flatbread joint on the next block called, yes, "Sidecar." The reason is that Maude's is all inclusive of anybody regardless of race, creed, age, orientation, socioeconomic status, or any other dividing line. Truly, the most interesting people congregate at Maude's for study, conversation, cocktails, off-the-wall shows, musical entertainment, and when that's not happening, you will no doubt hear great ambient music from early in the morning to late at night. You can be seen in the windows and from the street, or hide deep within the confines of the peculiar and intriguing hand-crafted seating. There is a confluence of authenticity at Maude's. One engages the business more like a person than a profit center. Maude's engages with you--invites you to interact and be a part of the scene. It evolves, it responds, and it satisfies on many levels that simply can not be accomplished by its corporate imitators. Profound, not always perfect, but always perfection for those who wish to explore the real cosmic Gainesvile synchronicity that always seems to culminate here. And it's pretty much the only classic coffee shop that can juice up your coffee with some Jamison's at 8am if so be the case. And the outside patio is smoke and pet-friendly."

"Was visiting Gainesville for the
weekend and had to come here while in town. This place is consistent,
unique, and a must. I stopped by while walking downtown for the art
show over the weekend. Since it was crisp outside, I got a hot
raspberry mocha which was unreal and my fiancé got an Irish coffee which
he really enjoyed too. Was only there for a short time, but there are
games available to use while you're there, they also have both indoor
& outdoor seating for when you want to hang for a little while.

Jess R."If you have not been here yet, you should check it out. It's a Gainesville Landmark. Fun for all ages and they have a small lunch menu and lots of board games. And it's located next to the Hippodrome Theater. What's Hipp-er than that?!"

Tom L."When I was at student at UF, I would often venture downtown for a tasty (home made) dessert from this little coffee shop. I have never actually had any of the coffees from here but if the aroma does justice I would say go for it.
I came for a visit this past weekend and had the Dolly Parton which is their rendition of the tiramisu; although they have switched from the chocolate to some liquor version it's still quite tasty. I am also a fan of the cheesecake with sour cream topping it's denser than the standard cheese cake but still delish!
I will always stop buy when I'm in town visiting friends."Lane M.
